One Unhappy Puppy

Boy is Bentley mad at the world right now, he just had his manhood taken away. Bentley was neutered on Tuesday and has not been taken it very well.

He didn't have stitches so he did not receive a cone at first and they just told us to make sure he does not lick the area. We knew to watch for that because we went through this with Prada. When Prada was fixed she was a trooper and it didn't phase her too much. Bentley on the other hand was irritated like no other and all he wanted to do was lay on the blanket and try to get at it. So, Andrea had to improv by making a diaper for him out of some old panties to try and cover the area. I think it just embarrased him to top off the pain, after all they were bright pink!

Even with the pink panty he wasn't doing so well and maybe he was embarrased to walk around in a pink panty but he didn't want to walk. Instead he would dash from comfy blanket to bed and from the couch to the pet bed. He was not happy and not comfortable. His incision started to open a little but no blood was coming out. He just wanted to lay around like this:

We called the vet they said it was nothing to be too concerned about and put neosporin on the incision. As time went on he just seemed too much in pain and Andrea was stressed over it so she had Jason take him to the vet to check it out and at least get a cone for him.  He did and the vet said there was also a slight skin infection probably from him getting to the area so the doctor had to give him a shot of anitbiotics which caused him to hate the doctor more than anything, he gave a death cry and ran to daddy! When Bentley came home he no longer had his pink panty but was sporting a blue collar to help him stay away from the area. He still isnt very active and not happy unless mommy is holding him. He has his minor freak outs but we are doing everythign to help him feel better about losing his manhood.

Prada also wants her brother to feel better and gives him friendly kisses to help ease the pain.

On another note... Jason and Andrea have have plans for our 2nd anniversary and summer vacation. We are going to Disney World this summer!! The puppies will probably not be happy about us being gone, but we are excited.

Bentley's First Week

Well it has officially been one week since we first got Bentley. He has for suremade himself comfortable in his new home. It seems like he has been with us all along.

He is easily a mama's boy. Bentley just adores Andrea and folllows her around the house when he isn't playing with Prada. When she leaves he suffers from seperation anxiety by whining and howling. In the mornings Andrea takes a shower and he puts his paws on the tub to be able to peek into the shower and see her. Since he can't actually be with her when she is showering he stands there and whimpers. Lately though he decided to keep himself distracted while Andrea is in the shower by getting into the bathroom trash can and shredding the garbage all over the house.

Other than getting into the trash he has been a really good boy. He is well trained to go potty outside and he doesn't bark, just howls and whines when Andrea leaves.

Prada does seem happier, if that was even possible.

On another note, last Sunday was the Super Bowl. We hosted a mini party with some friends of ours. We made home made pizza and topped it off with some home made root beer our neighbors made. Andrea was rooting for the Steelers while Jason cheered on the Packers who ended up winning. It was a close game by the end. The only real complaint about the Super Bowl party was the half time show.

Jason now has Xbox live for his Black Ops game so when he isn't addicted to sports or doing homework he is on the couch with his head phones playing the zombie game with his friends.

Thursday we went to the Stanford vs. WSU basketball game, but we lost. To recovery from the loss we ended the night at Dairy Queen with a blizzard.

Bentley Meets Prada, A Welcome Home Story...

Within the last two days we have been traveling a total of 10 hours. Both of us took time off from work to travel down to Portland, Oregon where we meet Prada's breeder to pick up our newest addition to the family. We adopted a boy, Bentley. Bentley is her actual litter brother but his name at birth was Rolls Royce.

Driving to Portland was pretty simple and long. It got a little bit stormy in the middle but I guess that was our welcome call to the true Northwest. The drive was beautiful and a majority of the road was a long the river. There were several waterfalls as we got closer to Portland. When we got there it was too early to check in to the hotel room so we went to Petsmart to buy Bentley some new stuff. We went to the hotel and since the breeder made reservations for a discounted price it was interesting to check in. At first they tell us there were no reservations for us but then we came to find out that the reservations were under "Jason Patterson", which is Andrea's maiden name which gave us a good laugh once it was al resolved. After checking in we celebrated our Valentines Day dinner in Portland at the Ringside Steakhouse. It was all a good experience we just wish we had room for dessert! We had to rush back to the hotel to meet the breeder and pick up our little boy. We got to see a few of her other pomeranians but Bentley was the sweetest little boy. All he wanted to do all night was cuddle, even as we slept! He is a calm quiet little fluff ball. The breeder told us he didn't have a very good time traveling up and that he puked on himself so she had given him a bath, but we all thought it would be a miserable trip home. When it came to waking up at 7 AM and leaving back to Pullman we were prepared for throw up. However, the whole ride home he was quiet and just wanted to cuddle in Andrea's lap. Absoletely no car sickness just cuddle time!

We got back to Pullman at 12:30 PM today where Bentley and Prada were reunited. Here are some pictures and videos of their "first encounter":

They love each other and are very happy together already! They have been playing since they met, now their fluff is a mess and it will be bath time soon. Just look at Prada's mane (Prada is the darker orange and Bentley is the light fluffy one) :

Welcome Home Bentley!!

Let the dancing begin!

Jason decided on a name for our new addition! Bentley the pomeranian.

Andrea bought the Wii game, the Michael Jackson Experiance. So now she can dance all night just like MJ.

Our new addition!

We adopted Prada's brother!

We will pick him up the first week in February.

We are now thinking of names. Any ideas? We are thinking of naming him Prince, but it is still in the air.

The good, the bad, and the ugly...

THE GOOD
We have started this year out with plenty of friends. On New Years day we went to a friends house to watch for the guys to watch the Rosebowl game while the ladies scrapbooked. Andrea has been busy keeping up with scrapbooking since she got her cricut machine for Christmas. Her current project is a scrapbook on her family that has a lot of ancestry information. She already put it together once, but she is re-doing it to make it look better. Also on new years day we were invited to another friends for a dinner party. We still have our Sunday dinners that we enjoy with our neighbors. We have also been trying to complete the Super Mario Bro. game on Wii with our neighbors (it is their game but we play with them). We already beat the game but now are working towards the secret world.

Prada's litter brother is still available with the breeder we adopted her from and so we are interested in adopting him. His name is Rolls Royce. She lives quite a distance away so we are hoping that she will be able to meet midway to deliver the puppy to us. We are 100% sold on adopting him and are excited if we can bring him home for Prada as a play mate.  He looks like Prada but a bit lighter, he use to be cream but is now starting to show some orange.

THE BAD
School starts tomorow for Jason, so no more sleeping in and more studying to bring on stress.

When we were heading to our neighbors for dinner today Prada decided to make a break for it. She escaped through the door and then burst down the down the stairs towards the apartment parking lot. She is quite the little runner and finds it a game to chase her down. She began running around all over the apartment complex. Circling our building, running up and down the hills, and around the mail box. It took a while to team up and catch her and Andrea was clearly out of shape and breath by the end. She must have had fun but she was in trouble afterwards. She is grounded I suppose. Andrea was the crazy lady chasing after her dog running down the sidewalk screaming because she was scared that Prada would get hurt in all her fun. This never happens and hopefully it is the last it will happen.

THE UGLY
Andrea's wedding band is in the shop getting fixed because one of her diamonds fell out of her wedding band.

The weather is improving here but there is still ice in some spots, especially the parking lots. Jason has now fallen twice on the ice going to the car. The first time he hurt his arm as he tried to grab on to the car for support. Last night Jason slipped and crashed right on to his back. He is doing okay but lets hope the ice doesn't get any uglier.
